What Jobs Can I Get With My ASVAB Score?

DA Pam 611-21 · Navy Recruiting Manual · DAFECD · NAVMC 1200.1M

Two numbers on your score report answer it: the AFQT percentile decides whether a service will enlist you, and the composite scores decide which jobs. Check the AFQT here, then take your composites to your service's qualifier.

services whose minimum AFQT you meet. Jobs are decided by the composites below.

Army

Eligible on AFQT

Meets the 31 minimum.

Navy

Eligible on AFQT

Meets the 31 minimum.

Air Force and Space Force

Eligible on AFQT

The AFQT is computed from four subtests: AR, MK, PC, WK (officialasvab.com, Understanding ASVAB Scores). It is printed on the score report; it is not an average of the line scores.

The Navy and the Marine Corps apply a higher floor to applicants without a high school diploma.

Army 31 (goarmy.com, Entrance Test (ASVAB)); Navy 31, Tier 1 under 50 (COMNAVCRUITCOMINST 1130.8S, Navy Recruiting Manual - Enlisted, paragraph 020702); Air Force 31 (Department of the Air Force Enlisted Classification Directory (DAFECD)); Marines 31, 50 with a GED (marines.com, Requirements).

Why there is no single "type your subtests" box here

Each service scores the same test differently. The Navy adds subtest standard scores rating by rating. The Army prints ten aptitude-area scores that, in the ASVAB program’s own words, are computed as a non-integer weighted linear combination of all ASVAB subtests (GS, AR, WK, PC, MK, EI, AS, MC, and AO).; the Air Force’s MAGE scores are converted percentiles. Those conversions are not published, so a page that rebuilt them from subtests would be guessing. Each qualifier takes the composite exactly as your report prints it.

About this entitlement

Two scores, two decisions

The Armed Forces Qualification Test score is a percentile computed from four subtests, AR, MK, PC, WK. It decides whether a service will enlist you at all: 31 is the floor the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps all publish, with the Navy requiring a Tier 1 credential below 50 and the Marine Corps requiring 50 from an applicant with a GED or nontraditional diploma. The job you can train for is decided by the composite scores: each service combines subtests its own way and prints its own composites on the report, and each occupation lists the composite minimum it requires.
