Privacy Policy

How we handle the data you share with Military Toolkit. Last updated May 18, 2026.

Who we are

Military Toolkit is a free web application operated by Correia Virtus LLC ("we", "us", "our"). The site publishes free calculators and reference guides covering U.S. military pay, entitlements, and transition benefits. This Privacy Policy applies to militarytoolkit.com and all subdomains we control.

You can reach us at support@correiavirtus.com for any privacy question.

Information we collect

Military Toolkit is designed to require no account and no personally identifying information to use. Many of our calculators run entirely in your browser — the inputs you enter (rank, ZIP codes, weights, dates, etc.) stay on your device. Some calculators (notably PPM, MALT, the PCS Checklist generator, and the AI Assistant) route a computation through our server; in those cases the input is processed transiently to return a result and is not stored against your identity or sold to anyone.

When you interact with the site, we may automatically collect:

  • Standard log data: IP address (anonymized), browser user-agent, referring URL, pages viewed, timestamps, and approximate location derived from the IP.
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see the "Cookies and tracking" section below).
  • Analytics events gathered by Google Analytics 4 — e.g. which calculator you used, which button you clicked, how long you spent on a page.
  • Advertising signals when Google AdSense serves ads on the site, as described in the AdSense section below.

When you use the optional AI Assistant, your question text and relevant conversation context are transmitted to our server and to the AI provider (Anthropic). We do not retain your conversation history after the session ends.

When you optionally provide your email address through the contact form or the "email me a copy" feature of certain calculators, we use that address only to fulfill your request.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and maintain the site and its calculators.
  • Understand which tools people use so we can prioritize updates and fix bugs.
  • Protect the site from abuse, fraud, and excessive traffic.
  • Deliver and measure the performance of advertisements served through Google AdSense.
  • Respond to your questions or feedback when you contact us.
  • Comply with applicable law.

We do not sell personal information to third parties, and we do not share it for third-party marketing purposes.

Cookies, tracking, and your consent choice

Military Toolkit uses cookies and equivalent browser storage for the following purposes:

  • Essential cookies — required for core functionality (e.g. remembering that you dismissed the cookie banner or made a consent choice).
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate site usage.
  • Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense, Google Ad Manager, and their partners to serve and measure ads.

Consent Mode v2. We implement Google's Consent Mode v2 with all advertising and analytics storage set to denied by default. The cookie banner that appears on your first visit asks you to Accept or Decline. If you accept, Google Analytics begins writing analytics cookies and, when AdSense is active, personalized-ad cookies. If you decline, only cookieless ping signals are sent (no individual identifiers), and ads — when active — are non-personalized.

To change your choice later, clear site data for militarytoolkit.com in your browser and reload the page; the banner will reappear.

Independent of our banner, you can manage personalized advertising at Google My Ad Center and optout.aboutads.info, and block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Google AdSense and third-party ads

Military Toolkit uses Google AdSense to serve advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, may use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads to visitors based on their visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to site visitors based on prior visits. Visitors can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

Where applicable we implement the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework to honor visitor consent choices.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors interact with the site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit the site, what pages they view, and what other sites they used before. We use the information from Google Analytics in aggregate form only, to improve our site and services.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.

How long we keep information

We keep log and analytics data for no longer than 26 months, after which it is automatically deleted or anonymized beyond individual identification. Email messages you send us via the contact form are retained only for as long as needed to respond and, if the exchange has legal or operational value, for a reasonable period afterwards.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over the personal information we hold about you. We honor any verified request regardless of where you reside; the categories below summarize the formal regimes most often invoked.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR / FADP)

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the UK GDPR, and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we process about you;
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten");
  • Restriction of processing;
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing;
  • Data portability for data you provided to us;
  • Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent (analytics + advertising cookies). Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing.

Lawful bases we rely on: consent (analytics + advertising cookies), legitimate interests (operating the site, preventing abuse, responding to support requests), and legal obligation where applicable. You can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — for example, the Irish Data Protection Commission, the UK ICO, or the Swiss FDPIC.

California (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the right to:

  • Know what categories of personal information we collect, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we share with;
  • Access the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you;
  • Delete personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell personal information for money. Use of third-party advertising cookies (Google AdSense) qualifies as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CPRA; you can opt out by clicking Decline on the cookie banner, by clearing site data and re-deciding, or via Google My Ad Center;
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information — we do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA;
  • Non-discrimination — you will not receive degraded service for exercising any of these rights.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid opt-out of "sharing" under § 1798.135(b).

How to exercise any of these rights

Email support@correiavirtus.com with the right you wish to exercise and enough information for us to verify you are the data subject. We respond within 30 days (GDPR) / 45 days (CCPA), or notify you within that window if we need to extend.

Children's privacy

Military Toolkit is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in the United States or under 16 in the European Union. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including HTTPS/TLS transport encryption, rate limiting, server-side input validation, and access-restricted infrastructure to protect the information we collect. No online service can guarantee absolute security; please report any suspected vulnerability to support@correiavirtus.com.

International visitors

Military Toolkit is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where privacy and data protection laws may differ from those of your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, post a more prominent notice on the site. Your continued use of Military Toolkit after the effective date of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
