How the CB award is computed

The formula. SRB = monthly basic pay × years (and months) of additional obligated service × award multiple, not to exceed the award ceiling shown for that rating/NEC/zone, and not to exceed $30,000 per year of AOS.

The caps. BUPERS-312: in no case can an SRB exceed $160,000; federal policy limits SRBs to $30,000 per year of additional obligated service (AOS), with an exception raising Nuclear N33Z SRBs to $45,000 per year of AOS. NSIPS applies the cap automatically; SRBs over $100,000 require the CCC to use the AOS-limit override.

Zones. Zone A is 17 months to 6 years of service; Zone B is 6 to 10 years of service; Zone C is 10 to 14 years of service. Your zone is fixed by your total active service on the reenlistment date. Submission window: 35-120 days before the reenlistment date, via NSIPS/CIMS.

What is the CB SRB award ceiling?
The highest ceiling listed for the CB rating is $100,000; the ceiling for each zone and NEC is in the table. The ceiling caps the total award, and federal policy separately limits SRBs to $30,000 per year of additional obligated service ($45,000 for nuclear) and $160,000 in total.
What is the last day to reenlist at the FY26 level?
October 7, 2026, for a level the FY27 plan reduced or eliminated: the chart makes those changes effective October 8, 2026. From the chart: for reductions and eliminations it may still be possible to move a previously submitted SRB reenlistment to a date before the effective date. A request submitted on or before 3 September 2026 may still meet 35 days from the original submission to the adjusted date of execution, as long as the adjusted reenlistment date is within 365 days of the member's EAOS or the member holds unexecuted PCS orders with an unmet OBLISERV. Contact BUPERS-328 to validate eligibility. No new SRBs will be authorized for ratings or NECs that have been closed out, and 35-day waivers will not be considered; the only exception is previously approved OTT reenlistments.
