Purpose, in the publication’s words

DAFI 91-208, Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO) Certification and Management, serves as the DAF’s primary instruction for identifying and managing HERO risks. Effective risk reduction must address how the ordnance is designed and how it is employed. This instruction establishes and implements explosive safety and reliability standards, criteria, instructions, regulations, and electromagnetic emission control procedures for electromagnetic radiation (EMR) emitters throughout the DAF in accordance with the organizations and general responsibilities assigned by this instruction.

Summary of changes, as printed

This instruction has been substantially revised and should be completely reviewed. Major changes include additional context to electrically initiated devices characterized by maximum no-fire current, an updated SharePoint link for the DAF ordnance certification database, and a new requirement for modern mobile emitter use approval. This document has also been updated to reflect current references, fix grammar errors, and modified to conform with new publication guidelines.
