How the ABF award is computed

The formula. SRB = monthly basic pay × years (and months) of additional obligated service × award multiple, not to exceed the award ceiling shown for that rating/NEC/zone, and not to exceed $30,000 per year of AOS.

The caps. BUPERS-312: in no case can an SRB exceed $160,000; federal policy limits SRBs to $30,000 per year of additional obligated service (AOS), with an exception raising Nuclear N33Z SRBs to $45,000 per year of AOS. NSIPS applies the cap automatically; SRBs over $100,000 require the CCC to use the AOS-limit override.

Zones. Zone A is 17 months to 6 years of service; Zone B is 6 to 10 years of service; Zone C is 10 to 14 years of service. Your zone is fixed by your total active service on the reenlistment date. Submission window: 35-120 days before the reenlistment date, via NSIPS/CIMS.

Is there an SRB for ABF in FY27?
No. ABF is not listed on the FY27 Change 1 chart (N13 SRB 001/FY27, dated September 8, 2026). The Navy pays an SRB only for the ratings and NECs its current chart lists, so nothing is offered for the ABF rating (Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Fuels)) under that plan.
What did the FY26 plan list for ABF?
The FY26 Change 2 plan (N13 SRB 002/FY26, dated December 10, 2025) kept the ABF rating (Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Fuels)) on the chart at 0.0× in every listed zone, which means no SRB was payable under that plan either. The cells are in the table on this page.
What is the last day to reenlist at the FY26 level?
The FY27 chart prints an end date only for cells it marks as reduced or eliminated: October 8, 2026, with October 7, 2026 the last day to reenlist at the prior level.
