Purpose, in the publication’s words
This instruction implements Department of the Air Force Policy Directive (DAFPD) 36-26, Total Force Development. This publication applies to the Department of the Air Force (DAF) to include members of the Regular Air Force, the United States Space Force (USSF), the Air National Guard, and the Air Force Reserve. It relates to procedures for correction of military records to remedy error or injustice and not to the Air Force Discharge Review Board (AFDRB). It tells how to apply for correction of military records and how the Air Force Board for Correction of Military Records (AFBCMR) (the Board) considers applications. It implements the Board’s statutory authority to act on applications. In collaboration with the Chief of Air Force Reserve; the Director of the Air National Guard; the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower, Personnel, and Services (AF/A1); and the Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Personnel (SF/S1), the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) (SAF/MR) develops Air Force Board For
